Drabble: At what cost?

Image result for the price of something is the amount of life

This quote is something that I find extremely simple and also extremely profound.

The first, most common interpretation of this would be in today's consumerism based market. I've always hated those sales, you know. They ever so subtly rob you of your perspective--from questioning whether you really need something, you move to debating whether it is a steal at the numbers on the price tag. And more often than not, you buy it and carry your conquest proudly home, under the delusion that you've walked away with a really good deal. After the initial glee though, it remains unused, because you never really needed it in the first place, and worse still you didn't even like it all that much. Now look at it this way. If you're giving away a piece of your life in exchange for this product, would you actually buy it? Do you think it's worth it? Is it a good enough investment of your life?

Here's another take. The choices you make in life. The paths you take. Each of them comes with a price tag. And the currency is always in terms of life. Now you might ask me, what do you mean when you say life? The answer depends on you :) What do you see when you hear the words life? Do you see your family? Or maybe your hobbies and interests? A good social life and traveling the world perhaps? Whatever be the picture your mind  instinctively conjures up when you hear the world life, those are the things that mean the most to you. So every time you make a decision, think about how much of "life" you are exchanging in return for your choice. It's a very philosophical way of looking at things, but it makes your priorities clear. It gives you a clear algorithm for the cost-worth analysis.
As a consumer of the consequences of your decisions, it is only right that you question its price. :)

I have a few more ideas, but I'll stick to a drabble and leave it at this!
